Legacy of Mercy Waves of Mercy Lynn Austin 9780764231728 Books

This is a beautiful follow-up to Waves of Mercy. It continues the story of Gessje and Anna. This one has Anna searching for more information on her birth parents while rumors abound about her heritage. Still confused about her feelings for Derk, she is committed to marry William to help her family.

This story is filled with emotion, as there are some heavy decisions to be made by several of the characters It unfolds slowly, but draws the reader in with anticipation. Lynn Austin's writing flows so beautifully. Her characters are so endearing. I find myself more and more entranced by her writing. I can't wait to read more of her books.

Legacy of Mercy Waves of Mercy Lynn Austin 9780764231728 Books Reviews

A lovely story and a reminder of life in Michigan when God, family, and hard work shaped a person. A wonderful story
Like the title says, I couldn't put it down. I so enjoyed the first book of this series, Waves of Mercy, I have anticipated this new book for months. I wasn't disappointed! If you haven't read the first one, I'd start there. But if you have, you'll thoroughly enjoy a sweet love story woven skillfully with a redemption story and a few other side plot surprises along the way. I just love Geesje's wisdom. I hope there's another book in the series (hint to Ms Austin!)
I’ve had a lot of trouble putting this story down to get on with the everyday errands of life. Just a wonderful spiritually uplifting and learning journey. Well developed characters, interesting history with lots of satisfying twists and turns. I’ve cried and laughed and grown spiritually. I highly recommend this series!
I loved this sequel. The story comes full circle in the end. There were parts that seemed very preachy to me and Oma is a little manipulative but overall, I loved the characters and the story line. As an adopted child, I also thought adoption was portrayed fairly well.
Life never goes exactly as we plan. But when we trust God, it will be what is best. Lynn Austin beautifully shares this truth in Legacy of Mercy, the sequel to Waves of Mercy. The heroine Anna has only ever know a life of wealth and comfort, yet now that she's meet her biological grandmother, she believes she's meant for so much more. Her faith blossoms and so does a romance that seems as likely to happen as snow on a summer day. A dark contrast to Anna is Cornelia, the young girl who's just come to America with her strict grandfather who also happens to be a pastor. Cornelia has lived more life than her young age suggests. She has faced unthinkable heartache yet was forced to bury it deep inside instead of dealing with the pain. But being a guest in Geesje's home begins to transform Cornelia. She begins to trust again and have a hope bigger than her past. Geesje is the rock of the book. She's kind and compassionate yet strong and determined to stand up for what's right. She may resist at first, but Geesje always ends up open to God's leading even if it's not the way she thought it should be. My favorite quote is, "Maybe change is His (God's) favorite tool to make sure we keep growing closer to Him." Get ready to fall in love with the characters and storyline of Legacy of Mercy! You'll have a hard time putting it down. When you land on the last page, your heart will be so full, but at the same time you'll feel like you're saying goodbye to a best friend because that's what these beloved characters become.
I was very excited when Lynn Austin announced she would be writing a follow up to Waves of Mercy. This was a great conclusion to the first story. She wraps up everyone's story, and even brings in some new characters to fall in love with. I could go back and visit Holland Michigan again and again. I loved how much the characters grew in there faith and how much they leaned on that faith when they faced trials and difficulties. I highly recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction. Just make sure you start with Waves of Mercy. Thank you Netgalley for the review copy. I also purchased a copy for myself.
Legacy of Mercy is the second of the Mercy series, and it is imperative to read the first, Waves of Mercy, before this one in order to meet the characters & understand their relationships. I enjoyed this book so much, as Anna & Derk work to overcome great obstacles to be together. I hope there is a Book 3, because there are definitely strings dangling that need to be tied up. Highly recommended!
