This is going to be a quick one...I'm a huge fan of Bijou Hunter, I adore her writing style and loved book one and two in the Damaged Series. I was very excited to finally read Damaged and the Cobra, Aaron's story. Who does not love a sexy, sensitive tattoo artist? Unfortunately, this book was just okay for me. I hate even having to say that because I think this author is really something special and is one of my top new authors to watch. I can't really pin point one specific thing I didn't like about the book. It was just missing that something special that I associate with this author's writing style. She has a certain rhythm to her writing which was missing in this book. The story and writing felt a little flat to me. With that being said, I still have high hopes and expectations for Damaged and the Outlaw which will be Vaughn's HEA. Can't wait to see that tough guy get knocked on his tush by a feisty woman!Tags : Damaged and the Cobra - Kindle edition by Bijou Hunter. Damaged and the Cobra edition by Bijou Hunter Romance eBooks Reviews
Every book in this series is amazing & wonderful! I love to read a happily ever after story that involves a non-perfect couple. Thank you Bijou for showing the world that everyone deserves a happy, love filled life.
What can I say I think Bijou Hunter is a genius, I love this series I faithfully stalk her till another book is out so that I can buy and devour it right away. And people say stalking is bad(psh) I say it comes with benefits, I was one of the lucky few who got to beta read this book and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it so much so that though I was given a copy of this book I just bought my own because 1) I love this author, and 2) I love this book and series. I already am needing book 3 yesterday. Bijou writes effortlessly it's so easy reading her books they flow like butter. She writes her men amazingly and I always(which doesn't always happen) love her heroines.
Lark has known pain her brother who she loved dearly died, her sister left her and her mother chooses her husband every day over Lark. Even though Lark is an adult she is treated like a child with the threat of being kicked out of her house, and with not enough money to go to college and have her own home she picks college. While at her friend Farah's wedding rehearsal she see's Aaron, Coopers friend and she wants nothing more than to talk to him but never finds the chance then the next day at the wedding Aaron comes with a date. Now months later a unfinished tattoo may be the perfect reason to go see Aaron.
Aaron has been friends with Cooper since they were kids, when he see's Lark at Coopers wedding rehearsal and wedding he knows right away that she is it for him but never gets the chance to talk to her. So when Cooper tells him about Lark's tattoo he knows this is it, When he finally see's her again he agree's to meet her at a restaurant to talk about the tattoo. When Lark doesn't show up Aaron is devastated and leaves but on his way out he see's Lark walking to meet him.
Lark and Aaron instantly connect and want to spend more time together, and quickly find themselves falling in love, but Lark's over protective family stop her at every turn and makes it known that she will have no home if she continues with her relationship with Aaron. Now Aaron and Lark are forced to decide what they want most but when Lark finally stand up to her family she finds that it isn't as easy to walk away as she thought it would be.
I so loved this book I hated finishing it because I didn't want to say goodbye to everyone I have grown to care about so much. Though this book is lighter than the first two it didn't detract from it's awesomeness one bit, and I think that was a brilliant idea with the length of this book. I think that had she tried to make this book as heavy we would have missed to much and it's obvious that Bijou didn't want to skimp or do her characters injustice and she didn't at all. I wouldn't change this book one bit. She had me in tears reading the epilogue and that's the sign of a great author.
Bijou does a great job at showing enough of the characters yet to come to make me salivate for their stories. She can make you hate a character( and want them to suffer painful deaths) then fall in love with them and want nothing more than for them to be happy. The gang is all together again and it was great seeing where they were, and seeing who is to come I loved Aaron he knew Lark was it for him and he was willing to wait for her, she was it for him and no other girl would do. Lark was strong though all she had been dealt in life and I completely believed that she was head over heals in love with Aaron.
Not only did I love Aaron and Lark but Bailey and Nick also shined in this book, I laughed throughout this book with the things Bailey said. Nick intrigued me like not many have in a long time the few times he is in this book brought new insight and question about Nick so much so that I want to fast forward the months so that I can read his book, or better yet lock Bijou away till she finishes more books, unfortunately the law looks down on those kinds of things (*double sigh*). Bijou is everything right with the self published world. She is an auto buy author for me that I always anticipate new release from.
"Sounds about right," he muttered, rolling another strike. "Girls get PMS. Guys get ball toxins."
Why are they walking around like that?" Bailey cried. "The babies will fall out and I'm not cleaning anything."
I enjoyed the story. I would have liked more character development and deeper character content (bc I think Lark and Aaron are awesome characters), but I enjoyed reading it
This book is part of a series- but they all stand alone, I found that the books where not in order and things where mentioned in each book that let you know what happened in the end of another I found the writing a bit all over the place not flowing which is a shame because the series has brilliant stories- the first two where great they they lost momentum still worth the look
This series has me hooked I'm in love!!!!! I just want more and more I don't want it to end I can't put it down. I do wish there had been more deceptive sex but other than that these books have the best story lines and characters I have seen in a long time. I couldn't put them down I bought the first one and was so hooked I just kept buying book after book till I had them all I read them all and loved them all. These are MUST have MUST read about beautifully broken people who find love and life in crazy ways.
I love this series. That being said, when is read Damaged and the Beast, I fell hard for Cooper. Don't get me wrong, Judd and Aaron were great, they just weren't Cooper. I do like that the heroine is stronger, because the only thing that I didn't like about Beast was my perception of Farah being weak and crying all the time (anyone who cries at the drop of a hat annoys me). However, as the series progresses, Farah is stronger, and I love seeing that progression. I will say that I love Bailey, Miss Completely Inappropriate. She cracks me up. I'm going to read Outlaw (love Vaughn!) and then hopefully, we will get a book about Bailey!
I thought this book was okay. It was nice to see a bit of a break from topics of abuse and such. Of course we jumped right into the idea of potential death. I did find it hard to believe that Lark would want only Aaron to know about her major health problems for so long, and not her parents. I get that she didn't want to over shadow the other happy events going on, but she hadn't know Aaron for that long. I just would have found it more believable if at the last minute she would have asked him to call her parents.
The other parts of the book were nice and what I expected of this author. I look forward to the next book.
